Consumer disputes may arise from defective goods, deficient services, builder disputes, banking complaints, insurance claims, billing problems and failures to provide services as represented.
A strong factual record is important. Bills, invoices, receipts, agreements, warranties, emails, messages, photographs and prior complaints to the business or service provider may be relevant.
Before filing a formal complaint, it is often useful to clearly communicate the grievance to the opposite party and retain evidence of that communication.
A consumer complaint should identify the transaction, the alleged deficiency or defect, the loss claimed and the specific relief requested. Jurisdiction and limitation should also be considered.
This article provides general legal information only and is not legal advice. Whether a dispute qualifies as a consumer matter and the appropriate remedy depend on the facts and applicable law.
